[Fixed] Windows 10 Calculator Not Working

Like older versions, Windows 10 also provides default applications like notepad, calendar and calculator. Many people struggle with the calculator in Windows 10 because of certain issues like the calculator application, not opening. This can be inconvenient as a calculator is used on a daily basis by many users for quick calculations. There are some issues or problems with the calculator application in Windows 10 reported by some users.

  • If the calculator application in Windows 10 cannot be started, does not run or launch; the application is unresponsive completely.
  • If the calculator application in Windows 10 is not opening, it can be an annoying issue for a user.

To reinstall an application, the first one needs to uninstall the said application. As the calculator is a default application in Windows, it is difficult to uninstall the application and hence, the user needs to use PowerShell or external cleaners like CCleaner in order to uninstall the calculator.

If a user is using PowerShell, here is how to reinstall the calculator :

  1. In Windows 10 search, type PowerShell.
  2. After right clicking on the search result, select Run as Administrator.
  3. After copying Get-AppxPackage *windowscalculator* | Remove-AppxPackage command, paste it and then click on Enter.
  4. Then after pasting the Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers *windowscalculator* | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\\AppXManifest.xml”} command, press the Enter key.
  5. Reboot the system.

If the methods given above do not work, the user should try resetting the Windows 10 install and try fixing the problem. Note that resetting Windows 10 install will remove all the third-party applications installed as well as the programs.

If all the methods mentioned above do not fix the problem, there are many calculator applications available by third parties on the internet for Windows 10. Or a user can try installing Windows calculators for previous versions of Windows.
